As the spring marathon season gets underway Tavistock Run Project were testing their winter training at a number of events both home and abroad and the results were positive.
Making the journey to the North West last weekend to take part in the Manchester marathon were a trio of TRP runners and all three were rewarded with personal best times. First across the line in a time of 2h59m22s was Sam Hortopp who was elated to break the three hour barrier for the first time. Sam was closely followed by team mates Pete Moyse in 3h14m and Craig Howells 3h17.
Earlier in the day in Istanbul, Turkey, James Vassay recorded a time of 1h40m04s for the half marathon distance. Understandably disappointed to be so close to a sub 1:40 clocking James nevertheless also set a new personal best.
Finally, over in Somerset Jordan Andrews and Ben Neale were representing the club at the Taunton half marathon. Running with the leaders they crossed the line in 3rd and 4th place respectively, Jordan recording an excellent time of 1h11m12s with Ben close behind with yet another personal best of 1h12m45s.
There is evidence that the consistent training and culture that the club has developed is paying dividends in performance across the spectrum of athletes.
