TRP hit the streets of London
Last Sunday the eyes of the world were on the London Marathon and for many the focus was on the duel between the magnificent Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge and Britain’s Mo Farah. There was always going to be one winner and once again we marvelled at the race execution of Kipchoge.
However among the throngs of runners people had more personal focus on club mates and relatives striving to achieve their goals. TRP had a trio of such runners as Ed Smith, Rachael Malthouse and Emma Dooney took on and conquered the streets of London. Just after Big Ben struck one pm Ed Smith crossed the line in a time of 3hr2m. Next came Rachael Malthouse in 3hr19m, and it was not long before Emma Dooney stormed home in 3hr52 shattering her previous best time for the distance by over 30minutes.
Earlier in the day Oliver Smart competed in the London mini marathon which follows the last 3miles of the marathon course and is run in age group categories. In a swift race with the winner recording 14min25sec Ollie was a little disappointed but still ran a strong 15:06.
Closer to home Jennie Sabine opened her track season with a win recording 11:57 for the 3k just outside her pb. for the distance.
